A PLACE FOR BLACK WOMEN
Black Woman I see you tired and lost
How can you stand so tall.
Black woman I see you raising your kids alone
How can you stand so tall.
Black woman I see you over worked and under paid
How can you stand so tall.
Black woman I see you head held high,
Black woman I see you walk with pride,
Black woman I see you adore your babies,
and I know why you stand so tall.

My brother do you know who it is you fight
the woman who kisses your kids good night
My brother do you see your mothers tears
can you the reasons for her fears
My brother these women that you feel with hurt
these woman that you treat like dirt.
My brother you can not be too blind to see
the man that they want you to be.
My brother this man they are waiting to see
is the man you are and always will be.
My brother although you think it is not you
they see your heart despite the things you do.
